O-Rings by Material
HNBR O-Rings (Hydrogenated Nitrile)
HNBR is NBR with its polymer backbone saturated by hydrogenation — this eliminates the double bonds that make NBR vulnerable to heat, ozone, and chemical attack, extending service life in demanding applications.
Properties
Key Properties
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Temperature Range | −30 °C to +150 °C |
| Hardness Range | 55 to 90 Shore A (70–80 Shore A typical) |
| Resists | Petroleum oils (better than NBR at higher temps), ozone, refrigerants (R134a, R1234yf), sour gas (H₂S), amine-containing oils |
| Avoid | Polar solvents (ketones, esters), strong oxidizing acids, brake fluid (glycol-based) |
| Typical Applications | Automotive (timing belt tensioners, fuel injection), oil & gas (sour service), refrigeration (R134a systems), industrial hydraulics at elevated temperature |
| Available Standards | AS568, ISO 3601, NACE MR0175 (sour gas), SAE J2236 |
