Material
Fluorosilicone (FVMQ)
Fluorosilicone combines silicone's extreme temperature range with meaningfully better resistance to fuels and mineral oils than standard silicone — at the cost of the mechanical strength needed for dynamic service, so it is specified for static seals only.
FVMQ seals — fuel-resistant silicone for aerospace and automotive.
Applications
Where it's used
Aerospace and automotive fuel-system static seals, low-temperature fuel and oil contact where silicone alone lacks fluid resistance.
Properties
Key advantages of Fluorosilicone
- Combines silicone's wide temperature range (-60°C to +175 °C) with fuel and oil resistance
- Excellent low-temperature flexibility — maintains sealing at -60°C
- Good resistance to aromatic fuels (Jet A, JP-8), mineral oils and diester lubricants
- Good ozone and weathering resistance inherited from the silicone backbone
- Suited to static seals only — poor abrasion and tear strength for dynamic service
Fluorosilicone is specified where standard silicone lacks the fluid resistance and FKM lacks the low-temperature flexibility. FITCO supplies FVMQ O-rings for aerospace fuel connectors, automotive fuel injector seals, and military-spec applications requiring MIL-R-25988 compliance.
